Visiting Amsterdam for the first time? Or staying in a serviced apartment for the first time? If your answer to either question is yes, read on. |
A lot of first time travellers asked me, ‘will someone meet us?’, ‘where do I pick up the keys?’, ‘What is the best way to get to the apartment?’ Well, staying in an apartment is unlike staying in a hotel. Our serviced apartments, especially in Amsterdam, don’t have a reception desk in the apartment building, but instead an on-call check-in host. In other words, you have to call your check-in host's number before arriving at the apartment. Your check-in host will meet you in front of the apartment to check you in and give you the keys.
Luckily, most of our Amsterdam apartments are conveniently located in the city center. There are many ways to get to our apartments. Here are some of the most popular ways to reach our Amsterdam apartments.
If you want the easiest, most reliable and luxourieus way of travelling to your city apartment book a Private Airport transfer from Amsterdam Airport here.
The taxi is the more expensive, but definitely a convenient and efficient method. The best thing about taking a taxi is you don’t have to carry/drag along your luggage around the city. And, of course, no need to worry about getting lost somewhere in Amsterdam, especially when you have a late/evening arrival. At Schiphol, you can find a private taxi or a mini bus (shared taxi) to travel to your apartment. A private taxi (max. 3-4 people) will cost EUR 50 – EUR 70 and a shared mini bus will cost EUR 19 for a one-way trip. Click here to book a Shuttle service for only 19 euro.
Please keep in mind that our check-in host travels by bike to the apartment after getting your call. So, it’s very important to call your check-in host before you get into a taxi. You don’t want to wait in front of the apartment for the check-in host, do you? Should you need a taxi service during or after your stay, please contact us.
There are typically 6 trains/hour leaving Schiphol airport travelling to Amsterdam Central Station. Once you are at Amsterdam CS, please call your check-in host before you continue your trip to the apartment address. You can take tram 1, 2 or 5 from Amsterdam CS and step out at the Spui tram stop if you are staying in our Sonnenberg apartments , Nostalgic, and Canal Suites apartments, or get out at the Keizersgracht tram stop if you are staying in our Dutch Masters and Hendrick de Keyser apartments.
We have two different tickets in Amsterdam, NS train ticket and GVB (tram/bus/metro/ferry) ticket. Make sure you have a ticket before you get into any public transport in Amsterdam.
You can purchase a train ticket from an NS ticket machine or go to the NS Tickets & Service counter in the station. A one-way second class ticket from Schiphol to Amsterdam CS costs EUR 3.70/person (note: there is an extra EUR 0.50 service cost if you buy your ticket at the counter).
You can purchase a temporary, disposable OV-chipkaart for either 24hrs, 48hrs, 72hrs or 96hrs. You can buy this ticket directly in any tram/bus or in the GVB tickets & info office. You can use your GVB ticket to travel by tram, metro, bus and ferry around Amsterdam. Perfect Visit looks forward to welcoming you to the apartment!
